Code of Conduct: Students and Teachers
Teachers:
While attending school teachers are expected to follow these basic rules, procedures, and expectations:
- Be respectful towards all students
- Be diligent and provide interesting and informative lessons and discussions that challenge your intellectual curiosity.
- Maintain consistent standards of behaviour for all students
- Help students work to fulfil their potential, develop self-worth, and prepare them for the full responsibilities of citizenship.
- Communicate regularly and meaningfully with parents/guardians.
- Demonstrate respect for all students, staff, parents, volunteers, and members of the school community.
- Be fair in the grading process including grading quizzes, examinations, term papers, and the group case presentation.
Students:
While attending school students are expected to follow these basic rules, procedures, and
expectations:
- Use school-appropriate language and behavior at all times while maintaining friendly and courteous behavior.
- Never intentionally harm another student.
- Be polite and respectful to everyone, including students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and visitors.
- Treat others with dignity and respect at all times, and especially where there is disagreement.
- Respect and treat others fairly, regardless of their race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability.
- Follow teacher instructions and class rules.
- Do not be a bully. If you see someone being bullied, intervene by telling them to stop or immediately report it to school personnel.
- Respect the rights of others. Respect the needs of others to work in an environment that is conducive to learning and teaching.
- No to become a distraction for others. Give every other student the opportunity to maximize their potential. Encourage your fellow students. Never tear them down.
- Attend all classes unless an emergency arises. School attendance and participation in class are an essential part of the educational process. Regular attendance at school is necessary for student success. School attendance is the responsibility of both parents and students.
